Our client, a highly innovative studio at the forefront of interactive media and virtual experiences, is seeking a Lead 3D Artist to join their creative team in **Portland, Oregon, US**. This role is perfect for an experienced artist with a passion for bringing virtual worlds to life through stunning 3D art and design. You will be responsible for leading a team of artists, defining the visual direction for projects, and crafting high-fidelity assets for immersive experiences across various platforms, including VR, AR, and interactive installations.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a team of 3D artists, providing direction, feedback, and technical guidance. Define and maintain the artistic vision and style guide for projects, ensuring visual consistency and high quality. Create high-quality 3D models, textures, materials, and environments for interactive applications. Optimize 3D assets for real-time rendering engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine), ensuring performance and visual fidelity. Collaborate closely with game designers, programmers, and other stakeholders to integrate art assets seamlessly into the interactive experience. Develop and implement efficient workflows and pipelines for 3D asset creation. Manage the 3D art asset production schedule and ensure timely delivery of assets. Stay current with the latest trends and technologies in 3D art, real-time rendering, and interactive media. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to 3D asset creation and integration. Conduct art reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members. Contribute creatively to the overall design and storytelling of interactive experiences. Manage outsourced art assets and provide clear direction to external vendors.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Computer Graphics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 7 years of experience in 3D art creation, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior artist role. Proven experience in creating high-quality 3D assets for real-time applications (games, VR/AR, interactive installations). Expert proficiency in 3D modeling software (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, Blender) and sculpting tools (e.g., ZBrush). Strong knowledge of texturing and material creation using software like Substance Painter/Designer, Photoshop. Experience with real-time rendering engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine. Excellent understanding of art principles, including composition, color theory, lighting, and form. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively. A strong portfolio showcasing diverse 3D art skills and interactive experience work. Experience with character modeling and animation is a plus. Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, Perforce).
