Job Overview

Our client is seeking an energetic and results-driven Senior Java Developer to help design and build a modern API platform for wealth management customers. This role is ideal for a technical leader who enjoys influencing architecture decisions, mentoring teams, and delivering scalable, secure, cloud-native solutions in a fast-paced Agile environment.

You’ll work closely with architects, delivery leads, and scrum teams to shape technical direction while remaining hands-on with development.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Lead technical decision-making for Scrum teams in collaboration with solution architects and other technical leads.
  • Define and enforce coding standards, testing strategies, and best practices.
  • Guide team members through complex technical challenges and design decisions.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and mentor engineers to ensure delivery excellence.

Architecture & Development

  • Design and develop cloud-based microservices using platforms such as Microsoft Azure, GCP, or PCF.
  • Analyze complex business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and system designs.
  • Build scalable, secure, and high-performance Java-based API services.
  • Apply industry best practices to design, test, implement, and support enterprise solutions.

Delivery & Operations

  • Collaborate with delivery leads to plan milestones, manage risks, and ensure successful releases.
  • Perform performance analysis and tuning of applications and services.
  • Provide production support for applications and resolve issues as needed.
  • Ensure security, quality, and compliance standards are met.
  • Thrive in an evolving environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Must-Have Skills

Mandatory Requirements

  • Strong experience building scalable, enterprise-level Java technology stacks.
  • 5+ years of web service development using Java 8+, including:
    • JAX-WS, JAX-RS
    • Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Data
    • Swagger / OpenAPI Specification
  • 2+ years of experience developing cloud-based microservices (Azure, PCF, or GCP).
  • 5+ years of experience with Java frameworks and tools:
    • Spring, JUnit, Log4j
  • 5+ years working with RESTful/JSON, XML, and SOAP services.
  • 5+ years of database development using SQL, including stored procedures (Azure SQL, Sybase, or MS SQL).
  • Hands-on experience with Cloud MicroService and MicroApp development.
  • Experience with application monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, or equivalent.
  • Practical experience designing microservices using modern patterns, including:
    • Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
    • Event-driven architecture
    • Reactive programming
    • Distributed caching
