Role Overview
TELUS is seeking a Fullstack Java Developer to join its Security Platforms team, focusing on secure, high-performance applications and DevOps automation. The role blends software development, cybersecurity, and DevOps, contributing to business-critical security systems and cloud infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Java and JavaScript applications for security-critical systems.
- Implement and enforce security best practices across the CI/CD pipeline.
- Develop automated security processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate security measures.
- Monitor and respond to security events and incidents.
- Conduct security assessments and vulnerability management.
- Contribute to cloud-based security solutions (preferably GCP).
- Drive DevOps strategy, participating in strategic and tactical decision-making.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on next-generation cybersecurity challenges.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in DevOps or cybersecurity roles.
- Strong object-oriented programming skills (Java, Python).
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred), containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git/GitHub).
- Knowledge of database security (MySQL, SQL, Oracle).
- Passion for APIs, integration, and high-performance, maintainable code.
- Understanding of how development best practices influence operational excellence and reliability.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Cybersecurity certifications (CISSP, CEH, CCSP).
- Experience with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk) and log analysis.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST).
- Government of Canada Security Clearance.
