Location: Remote (Canada – English proficiency required)
Salary: $82,000–$124,000 + 12% Performance Bonus
Department: Security Platforms, eTools & Compliance Team

Role Overview

TELUS is seeking a Fullstack Java Developer to join its Security Platforms team, focusing on secure, high-performance applications and DevOps automation. The role blends software development, cybersecurity, and DevOps, contributing to business-critical security systems and cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Java and JavaScript applications for security-critical systems.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices across the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Develop automated security processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate security measures.
  • Monitor and respond to security events and incidents.
  • Conduct security assessments and vulnerability management.
  • Contribute to cloud-based security solutions (preferably GCP).
  • Drive DevOps strategy, participating in strategic and tactical decision-making.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on next-generation cybersecurity challenges.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in DevOps or cybersecurity roles.
  • Strong object-oriented programming skills (Java, Python).
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred), containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git/GitHub).
  • Knowledge of database security (MySQL, SQL, Oracle).
  • Passion for APIs, integration, and high-performance, maintainable code.
  • Understanding of how development best practices influence operational excellence and reliability.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Cybersecurity certifications (CISSP, CEH, CCSP).
  • Experience with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk) and log analysis.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST).
  • Government of Canada Security Clearance.
