WordPress Developer Requirements

You’ll work across the Roots ecosystem (Bedrock, Sage, Acorn), handling both PHP backend and React/Tailwind frontend.

Must-Have Skills:

  • PHP 8.x, JavaScript / TypeScript
  • WordPress internals: hooks/filters, custom post types, REST API, Gutenberg block registration
  • Roots stack: Bedrock structure, Sage themes, Laravel Acorn service container
  • Laravel Blade templating: View Composers, Components, directives
  • Advanced Custom Fields Pro: ACF Composer, flexible layouts, repeaters, shared field partials
  • React (functional components, hooks) for interactive block UI and search/filter interfaces
  • TailwindCSS (v3/v4) for responsive styling
  • Modern JS tooling (Vite, Bud.js, Webpack)
  • Composer and npm/yarn for dependency management
  • Git workflow with feature branches; CI/CD awareness

Strongly Preferred:

  • Pantheon multidev environments
  • Gravity Forms customization
  • Alpine.js, Accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA)
  • Data visualization (D3, Highcharts)
  • Search integrations (Algolia)

Drupal Developer Requirements

You’ll handle enterprise-grade Drupal platforms, with deep integrations like Solr, Salesforce, and S3.

Must-Have Skills:

  • PHP 8.x, OOP (services, DI, event subscribers, plugins)
  • Drupal 9–11: custom entities, plugins, hooks, routing, services, Forms API
  • Drush CLI: custom commands, config management (cex/cim, Config Split/Ignore)
  • Content modeling: content types, paragraphs, taxonomies, entity references, view modes
  • Views & Search API: customization, filters, facets, custom queries
  • Drupal theming: Twig templates, preprocess functions, render arrays, library management
  • Composer for dependency management, Git workflow, CI/CD awareness

Strongly Preferred:

  • Open Social distribution
  • Salesforce integrations
  • Solr / Search API with React frontends
  • S3 / S3FS remote file storage
  • SAML / SSO authentication
  • Performance tuning (Redis, Memcache, Pantheon cache)
  • TailwindCSS, Paragraphs, Migration framework, WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility

General Requirements for All Freelancers

  • Must operate as independent contractors under U.S. tax law
  • Complete a W-9 prior to payment; manage own tax obligations
  • Proof of business entity and insurance may be requested depending on scope
  • 1099-NEC forms issued where required
