Location: Columbia, MD, USA (Hybrid – Remote with occasional onsite meetings 1–2x per month)
Contract Type: 12-month contract, potential conversion to Full-Time Employee (FTE)
Work Authorization: U.S. Citizens or Green Card holders only (no H1B sponsorship)
Role Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Java Developer to support a major Federal Healthcare Insurance organization. The role focuses on backend development, system enhancements, production support, and releases within the client’s internal platform. This is primarily a remote position with occasional onsite presence in Columbia, MD.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and enhance backend services using Java 21 (preferred) and Spring Boot Framework.
- Implement messaging solutions using Java Message Service (JMS).
- Provide production support, bug fixes, and system release management.
- Work with AWS Cloud services and basic Kubernetes console operations.
- Write SQL queries and interact with Oracle DB.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, Testers, and cross-functional teams to support the SDLC process.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprints, scrums, and release planning.
- Optional/bonus: assist with Angular, Python, or Snowflake DB integration where required.
Required Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent (4 years additional relevant experience accepted).
- 8+ years hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and JMS.
- Experience with AWS Cloud concepts and Kubernetes console basics.
- Strong experience with Oracle DB and SQL querying.
- Knowledge of Healthcare Payor operations, Healthcare Claims (X12 formats preferred: 835, 837).
- Experience with Java Open-Source technologies including Ant, Struts, XML parsers, SOA-based infrastructure, JUnit, and HTTPUnit.
Preferred / Big Plus:
- Experience with Angular, Python, Snowflake DB, CloudBees.
- Prior experience in Healthcare Claims systems or Federal Healthcare projects.
