Salary Range: $120,000 – $165,000 base (plus potential bonuses, commission, and incentives)

Role Overview

Morgan Stanley is seeking a Director-level Full Stack Java Developer to join its Securities Lending Technology team. This role involves end-to-end ownership of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) for applications supporting securities lending, equity swaps, and prime brokerage functions. Candidates will work with global teams and contribute to scalable, reliable, and secure financial technology systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain applications using Java and Scala.
  • Implement services and solutions using Spring, Spring Boot, and Kafka.
  • Contribute to the entire SDLC from inception to deployment.
  • Collaborate with global teams to ensure timely, high-quality deliverables.
  • Use TDD and testing frameworks (JUnit, jBehave, Cucumber, Concordion) to ensure robust code.
  • Design and maintain databases (Sybase, DB2, MongoDB) and related ORM layers.
  • Manage source control and CI/CD workflows (Bitbucket, Git, Jenkins, Unix).
  • Engage with business stakeholders to understand requirements and provide technical guidance.

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of experience developing with Java/Scala technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with Spring, Spring Boot, Kafka.
  • Familiarity with databases: Sybase, DB2, MongoDB.
  • Proficiency in source control and CI/CD tools (Bitbucket, Git, Jenkins, Unix).
  • Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies and best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working with global teams.

Desired Skills

  • Experience in the Financing Industry, particularly Equity / Prime Brokerage / Equity Swaps / Securities Lending.
  • Frontend development experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, Angular.
  • Exposure to Agile methodologies.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to multi-task across teams and projects.
  • Strong client service orientation with the ability to deliver high-quality solutions promptly.
