Morgan Stanley is a leading global financial services firm. The Prime Brokerage and Securities Financing Technology team develops and maintains applications supporting trading, post-trade processing, custody, collateral optimization, and more.

This role is for a Director-level full stack developer responsible for designing, building, and deploying applications using Java, Scala, and Angular. You will own the entire SDLC, collaborate with global teams, and ensure high-quality, scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development and maintenance of applications using Java/Scala and Angular.
  • Manage entire SDLC: design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
  • Implement new functionality while ensuring scalability, reliability, and stability.
  • Use TDD and best practices to identify process gaps or improvements.
  • Collaborate across globally dispersed teams and communicate effectively.
  • Mentor junior engineers and act as a subject-matter expert within the team.
  • Build internal networks with business and other technology teams.

Required Skills

  • 5+ years in Java/Scala development.
  • Hands-on experience with Spring, Spring Boot, Kafka.
  • Test automation experience with JUnit, JBehave, Cucumber, Concordion.
  • Database knowledge: Sybase, DB2, MongoDB.
  • Experience with Git/Bitbucket, Jenkins, Unix/Linux.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies and high-quality deliverables.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience with global teams.

Desired Skills

  • Experience in the Financing Industry: Equity, Prime Brokerage, Equity Swaps, Securities Lending.
  • Frontend development with TypeScript, JavaScript, Angular.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Strong client service focus and ability to deliver under tight timelines.
  • Self-motivated and capable of independent work while being a collaborative team player.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $120,000 – $165,000/year (individualized based on experience).
  • Total compensation may include commissions, incentive bonuses, and other Morgan Stanley benefit programs.
