Job Summary
Walmart is looking for a strategic and data-driven Director, Data Science – Last Mile Delivery to lead high-impact initiatives that optimize delivery speed, cost efficiency, and customer experience. This leadership role focuses on building scalable analytics solutions, driving innovation across last-mile operations, and partnering with cross-functional teams including Operations, Product, Engineering, and Finance.
You will play a critical role in shaping the future of Walmart’s delivery network by translating complex data insights into business strategy while leading and mentoring high-performing data science teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 3–5 Senior Managers, fostering a culture of innovation and performance
- Define and execute the strategic vision for last-mile delivery using advanced data science and analytics
- Partner with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to drive measurable business impact
- Oversee development of algorithms, predictive models, and optimization frameworks to improve delivery operations
- Drive adoption of digital, data-driven solutions to scale in-house delivery capabilities
- Monitor KPIs and ensure continuous improvement across delivery speed, cost, and customer satisfaction
- Influence organizational decisions through data-backed insights and strategic recommendations
Required Qualifications
- Strong analytics expertise with the ability to translate insights into strategic business actions
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing high-performing data science teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder influence skills, including executive-level engagement
- Deep digital and innovation mindset with experience in operational optimization
- Outstanding critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field with relevant experience (Master’s or PhD preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or related field
- Experience in supply chain, logistics, last-mile delivery, or operations analytics
- Project Management or PMP certification
- Experience working in large-scale enterprise or retail environments
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $130,000 – $260,000 annually
