About the Role
The DCEO Cluster Manager is one of the most senior leadership roles within the Canton (JAN) cluster. This position is ultimately responsible for the performance, reliability, cost management, and operational excellence of multiple AWS data centers.
You will lead a large organization of Facility Managers, Area Managers, Chief Engineers, and technical teams responsible for mission-critical Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) infrastructure. You will serve as the primary escalation point for all facility-related issues and act as the technical leader supporting regional leadership.
This is a highly visible role requiring both strategic leadership and the willingness to dive deep into operational details when necessary.

- Organizational design and leadership development

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Organizational Management
- Hire, develop, and lead Facility Managers, Area Managers, Chief Engineers, and technicians
- Build a sustainable and scalable organizational structure
- Mentor and develop high-performing technical leaders
- Drive hiring strategy and participate in recruiting initiatives
Operations & Reliability
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of critical MEP infrastructure
- Manage incident response, root cause analysis, and resolution
- Lead availability reviews and weekly operational reporting
- Ensure compliance with established practices, safety standards, and procedures
- Own continuous improvement of operational processes and tools
Technical Oversight
- Lead operations of mission-critical systems including:
- Generators, switchgear, UPS, ATS, PDUs
- Transformers and feeders
- Chillers, pumps, AHUs, CRAC units
- Support capacity planning and infrastructure scaling
- Partner with engineering, real estate, construction, and business development teams
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Manage colocation service providers and ensure SLA compliance
- Oversee RFPs, bidding, change orders, RFIs, and quality control processes
- Represent JAN Data Center Engineering Operations in global initiatives
- Implement global standards and initiatives locally
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 2+ years of management experience
- 4+ years of general contractor and vendor management experience (RFPs, bidding, change orders, RFI tracking, quality control)
- Experience hiring, developing, and leading technical teams
- Strong knowledge of critical data center systems:
- Generators, UPS, ATS, PDUs, transformers
- Chillers, pumps, AHUs, CRAC units
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations (NFPA, NEC, OSHA, Life Safety, BOCA)
- Experience leading mission-critical operations
- Experience managing large-scale technical operations or compute farms
- Familiarity with Lean, Kaizen, or Six Sigma methodologies
