Role Overview

The Data Centre Engineering Operations (DCEO) role is a critical position responsible for the hands-on management, operation, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and fire/life safety infrastructure across AWS data centers in India.

You will serve as a central point of ownership and accountability for ensuring 100% uptime, operational reliability, compliance, and incident management across the data center portfolio. This role requires strong technical expertise in mission-critical facilities along with leadership and stakeholder management skills.

The position includes 24×7 on-call support, rotational shifts, and weekend coverage as required.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Maintenance

• Own all data center changes, incidents, problems, and events from start to resolution.
• Ensure maintenance and repair of critical infrastructure systems (Electrical, Mechanical, Fire Suppression).
• Manage asset and inventory systems.
• Develop and maintain:
  • SOPs and method statements
  • Preventive maintenance programs
  • Emergency response procedures
  • Technical documentation
• Deliver engineering reports and ensure SLA/KPI compliance.
• Provide hands-on facility support (installation, decommissioning, troubleshooting).
• Lead compliance audits and corrective action plans.

Incident & Emergency Management

• Manage communication during incidents and provide leadership updates.
• Review incident reports, perform trend analysis, and recommend improvements.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

• Coordinate with:
  • Landlords and facility vendors
  • Construction and operations teams
  • Technical Program Managers
  • Security and logistics teams
• Ensure contract compliance and cost management.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in data centers or mission-critical environments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with mission-critical systems such as:

Electrical Systems

• Utility feeds, transformers, switchgear
• UPS (VFI/DRUPS), PDUs, ATS/STS
• Generators and fuel systems
• Battery systems and monitoring
• SCADA and power monitoring systems

Mechanical Systems

• CRAC/CRAH/AHU units
• Chillers and cooling towers
• Pumps, valves, piping, heat exchangers
• HVAC distribution systems
