💼 Role Overview

AWS is seeking a Data Center IT Operations Manager to lead operations within our DCC Communities team.

This role is responsible for the overall availability, reliability, and operational excellence of a data center environment. You will manage diverse technical teams, oversee mission-critical infrastructure operations, and drive continuous improvement across processes, automation, and service delivery.

This is a leadership role ideal for experienced technology managers with strong people management skills and a solid technical foundation in data center operations.

🚀 Key Responsibilities

👥 Team Leadership & Management

  • Prioritize and assign trouble tickets to data center technicians and operators
  • Manage performance of diverse data center operations teams across locations
  • Recruit, train, and develop technicians to maintain appropriate staffing levels
  • Develop career paths and update internal tools for team growth
  • Maintain on-call schedules and coordinate absences and vacations

🏗 Operational Excellence

  • Ensure efficient day-to-day data center operations (24/7 shift management, queue management, hardware logistics)
  • Manage Large Scale Events (outages) and act as call leader
  • Oversee and improve workflows and throughput
  • Ensure all KPIs and SLAs are measured and achieved
  • Recommend and document policies aligned with industry best practices
  • Drive innovation in process improvement, automation, and technology adoption

🔧 Technical & Strategic Leadership

  • Act as subject matter expert across data center operations
  • Lead hardware and network diagnostics and physical repair operations
  • Sponsor projects and propose technical solutions
  • Create documentation and resolve complex technical challenges
  • Participate in site-level infrastructure projects

🎓 Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of IT experience
    OR
    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent
  • 2+ years of people management experience
  • 2+ years of data center operations, mission-critical facilities, or production facility on-call support experience

⭐ Preferred Qualifications

  • Linux systems administration and/or development experience
  • Knowledge of network design and low-voltage (copper/fiber) cabling
  • Experience in computer architecture or hardware troubleshooting
  • Experience writing and publishing technical documentation
  • Program or project management experience

💰 Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary Range:
Boardman, OR – $78,400 to $137,300 USD annually
