Pay Range: $36.00 – $63.00 per hour

Role Overview

As a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician (EOT), you are the frontline responder for maintaining mission-critical facility equipment. You will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair across electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems.

You will report to the site Data Center Facility Manager and support one or more locations as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management Systems (EPMS)
  • Perform rack installations and decommissioning within internal SLAs
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events
  • Execute preventative maintenance (PM) and perform root cause analysis
  • Support contractors and vendors to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards
  • Write technical documentation to support change management programs
  • Manage daily work requests and execute projects from conception to completion

Equipment You’ll Work With

Electrical Systems:

  • Stand-by diesel generators and fuel systems
  • 3-phase electrical systems (switchgear, UPS, PDUs)
  • Wet cell batteries

Mechanical Systems:

  • CRAHU units
  • Centrifugal chillers
  • Cooling towers
  • Air handlers
  • Pumps and motors

Additional Systems:

  • Fire/life safety equipment
  • Building automation systems
  • General facilities equipment

Work Schedule Options

Data centers operate 24/7 and require on-site presence.

Option 1: Weekend Rotation

  • Sunday – Tuesday + every other Saturday
  • Alternating 3-day and 4-day weeks
  • 5:30am–6:00pm (Day) OR 5:30pm–6:00am (Night)

Option 2: Weekday Rotation

  • Wednesday – Friday + every other Saturday
  • Alternating 3-day and 4-day weeks
  • 5:30am–6:00pm (Day) OR 5:30pm–6:00am (Night)

Overtime & Pay:

  • Time-and-a-half after 40 hours
  • 13% additional pay for night shifts (6:00pm–6:00am)
  • Up to 60 hours/week maximum

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 39 lbs independently
  • Participate in team lifts over 40 lbs
  • Work at heights and on ladders
  • Walk uneven terrain
  • Bend, twist, kneel, crouch, crawl
  • Work in environments requiring hearing protection

Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to work shifts longer than 8 hours
  • 2+ years of practical experience in electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and/or fire suppression systems
  • Ability to work at heights and in physically demanding environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of network layout and low-voltage cabling (copper/fiber)
  • Data center engineering experience
