Job Summary
The Critical Facilities Engineer – HVAC is a skilled technical specialist responsible for performing complex maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational support for critical infrastructure systems. This role requires strong judgment, adherence to operating procedures, and collaboration across teams to maintain reliability and efficiency in data center operations.
Key Responsibilities
Facility & Infrastructure Maintenance
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on critical HVAC and facility systems.
- Execute complex repairs, installations, and inspections.
- Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) alarms and recommend solutions.
- Maintain plumbing, fire suppression, and life-safety systems.
- Support energy efficiency initiatives and infrastructure upgrades.
Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate vendor activities to ensure maintenance quality standards.
- Prepare and manage maintenance documentation and approvals.
- Maintain accurate technical records and equipment documentation.
Site Administration & Incident Response
- Maintain site logs, permits, and compliance records.
- Identify Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) and recommend improvements.
- Respond to incidents and lead root cause analysis activities.
- Support on-site teams and ensure procedural compliance.
Work Orders & Projects
- Complete work requests, installations, and troubleshooting tasks.
- Support lifecycle maintenance and infrastructure upgrade projects.
- Recommend operational improvements to enhance reliability.
Collaboration & Mentorship
- Work cross-functionally to resolve facility challenges.
- Mentor team members on technical maintenance tasks.
- Assist with inventory management and critical spare parts planning.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in critical facilities or similar environments.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical certifications (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Safety) strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire suppression, and life-safety systems.
- Experience with Building Monitoring Systems (BMS).
- Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and maintenance documentation.
- Familiarity with energy efficiency and sustainability practices.
