Job Description

🧠 Core Purpose

This role focuses on building automation and control systems inside data centers — especially:

  • BMS (Building Management System)
  • EPMS (Electrical Power Monitoring System)

In short:

👉 You are the automation & controls specialist for the data center facility.

This is more specialized than a normal Data Center Technician.

🏗️ Main Responsibilities

1️⃣ Controls System Deployment & Service

  • Install and configure:
    • Sensors
    • Controllers
    • Industrial PCs
    • Network devices
  • Perform system startup and commissioning
  • Upgrade BMS/EPMS systems across multiple data centers

2️⃣ Troubleshooting & Diagnostics

  • Debug control wiring and signals
  • Fix controller programming issues
  • Root cause analysis of automation failures
  • Communication testing between devices

3️⃣ Automation & Programming Work

  • Work with:
    • Industrial control logic
    • Field I/O signals
    • Networked controllers
  • Provision servers and controllers

4️⃣ Engineering & Documentation

  • Read electrical schematics and panel drawings
  • Create redline drawings
  • Follow change management procedures
  • Support factory testing with vendors

5️⃣ Leadership & Coordination

  • Mentor facility teams
  • Manage vendors and contractors
  • Handle service agreements
  • Manage small projects

Minimum:

  • 1+ year electrical, mechanical, or data center experience

  • Industrial automation knowledge

💰 Salary Range (USA Example)

  • $32 — $57 per hour
