Job Description

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and interoperable data systems for our digital health platform. This role is critical in shaping how we collect, store, integrate, and use health data across applications to drive clinical insights, personalized care, and better health outcomes.

As a Data Architect, you will collaborate with data engineers, product leaders, clinicians, and regulatory stakeholders to define and evolve our health data architecture for current and future solutions. You’ll ensure our systems meet high standards of performance, compliance (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR), and interoperability (e.g., FHIR, HL7, OMOP).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable health data architecture frameworks supporting analytics, machine learning, and real-time applications
  • Define best practices for data modeling, integration, lineage, and governance across structured, unstructured, and streaming data
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, GDPR, HITRUST) and support secure, auditable data workflows
  • Lead the architecture of data lakes, warehouses, and interoperability services (e.g., APIs using HL7 FHIR or SMART on FHIR)
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to build patient-centric and provider-facing digital health products
  • Guide the adoption of standards such as OMOP, SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10, and others for semantic consistency
  • Provide architectural mentorship to data engineers and analysts while maintaining documentation and roadmaps

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Data Engineering, or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in data architecture roles, ideally with at least 3+ years in the healthcare domain
  • Deep knowledge of healthcare data formats, standards, and interoperability protocols (e.g., HL7, FHIR, CDA)
  • Experience with modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift), ELT frameworks (e.g., dbt, Airflow), and data modeling (e.g., star, normalized, OMOP)
  • Strong expertise in data privacy, compliance, and security best practices
  • Proficient in cloud-native data architectures using AWS, Azure, or GCP

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with EHR data (e.g., Epic, Cerner), health claims data, wearable/IoT device data, or genomics
  • Knowledge of clinical workflows and outcomes-based analytics
  • Experience with real-time data processing (Kafka, Flink, Spark Streaming)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
