Data Analytics Internship – Technology

Job Description

Support strategic cloud financial operations and asset lifecycle management as a Data Analytics Intern at Wellmark, gaining hands-on experience in a hybrid work environment.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:
• Focus on cost governance, usage insights, and asset data integrity to drive operational efficiency and informed decision-making.
• Research and validate best practices for optimizing cloud financial operations and cost governance.
• Analyze cloud usage patterns, identify anomalies, and perform root cause analysis to help teams monitor and control spend.
• Assist with asset data analysis and quality checks across key sources to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Identify data gaps and trends that inform lifecycle planning and sustainability strategies.
• Support development of dashboards and metrics for reporting on financial and asset health.

About You

The company is looking for:
• Current junior, senior or master’s student studying Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or related STEM field.
• Familiarity with cloud service platforms and consumption-based billing models.
• Foundational understanding of cloud services (AWS and Azure experience a plus).
• Knowledge of financial analysis and cost optimization principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate data analysis insights into decisions and actions.
• Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.
• Preferred: prior internship or office experience, experience with Power BI or Tableau, and experience with SQL dialects and/or statistical programming languages.

Training & Development

Gain valuable experience within the health insurance industry, learn from subject matter experts and leaders, network with fellow interns, and acquire practical, hands-on work experience.
