Job Summary

The Elite Job is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Customs Specialist / Release Agent to join our logistics and compliance team. This role is crucial in ensuring the timely and accurate clearance of shipments while maintaining full compliance with national and international trade regulations. Key Responsibilities

  • Review and process import/export documentation to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare and submit customs declarations using proper classification codes.
  • Liaise with brokers, carriers, and border authorities to ensure smooth release of shipments.
  • Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve delays.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations and trade compliance policies.
  • Provide regular reports on customs releases, discrepancies, and trends.
  • Handle high-volume documentation with precision and attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to streamline customs release processes.
  • Respond to customs inquiries and audits, supplying required documentation promptly.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of customs procedures, import/export regulations, and trade compliance.
  • Proficiency in HS Tariff classification, Incoterms, and related trade documentation.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently during non-standard business hours.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable with customs clearance platforms and data entry software.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years in customs brokerage, freight forwarding, or logistics.
  • Experience in a release or customs clearance role preferred.
  • Familiarity with CBSA/USCBP procedures and customs portals is a plus.
  • Experience handling shipments across industries (e-commerce, retail, manufacturing) is advantageous.

Working Hours

  • Afternoon Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM (Local Time)
  • Night Shift: 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM (Local Time)
  • Occasional weekends or holidays may be required depending on shipment volumes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of global customs regulations and country-specific import/export rules.
  • Ability to multitask with high accuracy under tight deadlines.
  • Skilled in interpreting and applying international trade laws.
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel, and customs entry systems (e.g., CADEX, ACE).
  • Ability to work in a remote team environment and communicate across time zones.
