⚖️ About the Role

Amazon’s Legal Department is seeking a highly skilled Corporate Counsel to support Amazon’s Engine organization, including Enterprise Engineering and the Tech Sourcing & Infrastructure team.

This position sits within the Products Legal team at AWS and focuses on enterprise-wide technology transactions and internal product counseling.

You will advise on strategic technology deals and serve as the primary legal partner for several internal Amazon services used globally — including emerging technologies such as AI tools.

🎯 Key Responsibilities

📄 Commercial Contracting & Negotiation

  • Review, draft, and negotiate:
    • Hosted services agreements
    • Software licensing agreements
    • Services agreements
    • Other commercial contracts
  • Support enterprise-level technology transactions across Amazon and AWS

🚀 Product Counseling & Business Partnership

  • Partner with internal business teams to develop and launch tools and services used by Amazonians worldwide
  • Provide legal guidance on:
    • Data rights
    • Privacy
    • Security
    • Regulatory compliance
    • Enterprise software systems

⚠️ Risk Management & Compliance

  • Identify legal risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Oversee privacy, regulatory, and contractual compliance
  • Build scalable legal processes that allow innovation while managing risk

👥 About the Team

The Enterprise Tech Sourcing Legal team is part of AWS Products Legal and supports technology transactions and product development across Amazon and AWS.

We operate at the intersection of:

  • Enterprise engineering

  • Infrastructure sourcing
  • Product innovation

We work hard, collaborate closely, and maintain a strong team culture.

✅ Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of legal experience
  • Juris Doctor (JD)
  • Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar (or equivalent)

⭐ Preferred Qualifications

  • Combination of corporate law firm and in-house experience
  • Experience working cross-functionally across multiple teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience managing multiple projects in deadline-driven environments
  • Experience in:
    • IP licensing
    • Technology transactions
    • Product counseling (data privacy, cloud computing, enterprise software)
  • Sound and practical business judgment

💼 Compensation & Benefits

💰 Base Salary:

  • Arlington, VA: $153,900 – $208,200 USD annually
  • Seattle, WA: $153,900 – $208,200 USD annually
