Job Description

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Commercial Roofing Estimator to join our growing team in a fully remote capacity. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive roofing project estimates for new construction, re-roofing, and repair/replacement jobs in the commercial sector. You will work closely with project managers, clients, sales teams, and suppliers to ensure cost-effective proposals that align with client expectations and company margins.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review architectural drawings, specifications, site surveys, and bid packages for commercial roofing projects (TPO, EPDM, PVC, modified bitumen, metal, etc.)
  • Prepare detailed and accurate quantity takeoffs, material/labor cost estimates, and bid proposals
  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes and negotiate competitive pricing
  • Communicate clearly with vendors, suppliers, manufacturers, and internal project teams
  • Collaborate with sales and project management to determine project scope and timelines
  • Attend virtual bid meetings, pre-construction meetings, and coordination calls as needed
  • Track project bid status, follow up on submitted proposals, and maintain estimation records
  • Stay current on industry best practices, building codes, and material specifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 3–5+ years of experience estimating commercial roofing projects (flat/low-slope preferred)
  • Proficient in estimating software such as The EDGE, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar
  • Strong understanding of roofing materials, systems, labor rates, and subcontractor management
  • Familiarity with national and regional building codes and safety standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and cloud-based collaboration tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Dropbox, Slack)

Preferred:

  • Field experience or project management background in commercial roofing
  • Knowledge of thermoplastic and built-up roofing systems
  • Experience working in a remote setting with distributed teams
  • Certifications from NRCA, RCI, or other relevant organizations are a plus
