Cloud Backend Software Engineer III (Remote, East Coast Hours) – CrowdStrike – USA – work from home job

Company: CrowdStrike

Job description: #WeAreCrowdStrike and our mission is to stop breaches. As a global leader in cybersecurity, our team changed the game. Since our inception, our market leading cloud-native platform has offered unparalleled protection against the most sophisticated cyberattacks. We work on large scale distributed systems, processing over 1 trillion events a day with a petabyte of RAM deployed in our Cassandra clusters – and this traffic is growing daily. We’re looking for people with limitless passion, a relentless focus on innovation and a fanatical commitment to developing and shaping our cybersecurity platform. Consistently recognized as a top workplace, CrowdStrike is committed to cultivating an inclusive, remote-first culture that offers people the autonomy and flexibility to balance the needs of work and life while taking their career to the next level. Interested in working for a company that sets the standard and leads with integrity? Join us on a mission that matters – one team, one fight.

About the Team:

It has never been more important to protect what we hold dear. LogScale is a CrowdStrike product for observability and log management to get real time insights into the truly massive amounts of log-events from software deployment, IT-services, IT-operations, and security. We are customer focused, value trust, take action, and deliver quality – and we are now looking for a new addition to our team in the US. Join us in LogScale as we lead the market in innovating, building and introducing the next level of streaming observability.

About the Role:

As our new Cloud Backend Software Engineer you’ll contribute to the LogScale SaaS solution for observability, log management, and security events. You’ll develop new features as well as improve existing functionality. As a member of the cloud team, you will focus on the multitenant part of the product and the SaaS experience. You’ll be improving LogScales provisioning and multi-tenancy functionality, and expanding our authorization and security capabilities to name a few focus areas. You will do this together with your team, which consists of frontend and backend developers, as well as UX-designers, and in close collaboration with our sales, marketing and support departments.

Teams in LogScale have a great amount of autonomy, and own a part of the LogScale experience, from ideation and development to deployment and feedback. This includes ensuring high quality of the features they deliver, by writing automated tests, and performing manual tests. We have two openings for our Cloud team and are looking for both experienced applicants and newly graduated.

This is a remote position, requiring candidates to work East Coast hours, with occasional travel.

What You’ll Do:

Contribute to take our SaaS solution to the next level

Develop the LogScale backend in Scala

Monitor and followup on features released to customers on-prem and on cloud

Work in a team of friendly, trustworthy and knowledgeable colleagues

Do best practices in software development; code review, automated tests, agile development, retrospective, incremental improvements and continuous deployment

Work on cross-team platform-level initiatives and projects

Troubleshoot critical production issues

Participate in scoping, designing and developing of new features

Continuous improvement of internal tools and processes

What You’ll Need:

An MSc in Computer Science, IT engineering or equivalent experience

Fluency in at least one programming language, preferably one running on the JVM

Can-do attitude, and that you thrive collaborating in a team and are not afraid of taking on responsibilities

Bonus Points:

Experience programming in Scala

Experience with commercial clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP)

Experience with Kafka

Strong debugging skills

Experience developing complex software applications

Hands on experience in large-scale (distributed) system architecture, high scalability and availability, and optimization

We believe it’s important to inspire, support, and enable one another, so we’ve chosen a diverse group of talented, compassionate, and fun people to work with. The work is challenging, but you get the possibility to create your everyday work life and to prioritize off-work commitments. We strongly encourage diversion, ownership and commitment from the employees in every team, and your inputs are always welcome. In general, you will experience a trusting culture throughout – from top to bottom. If you are passionate about working in an entrepreneurial epi-center developing for deep insights, observability and cyber security – you’re at the right place with us.
