About the Role

Amazon is seeking a strategic and results-driven Category Manager, Sustainability to help reduce Scope 3 carbon emissions across our global supply chain.

In this role, you will develop and implement category strategies that embed sustainability principles into procurement decisions. You will partner across Procurement, Sustainability, Operations, Finance, and external suppliers to integrate carbon metrics, energy efficiency standards, and responsible sourcing practices into both new and existing categories.

This position requires strong analytical skills, commercial acumen, and the ability to influence diverse stakeholders in a fast-paced, technical environment.

Key Responsibilities

Sustainability Strategy & Category Management

  • Develop and execute sustainability strategies aligned with Amazon’s Scope 3 reduction goals
  • Integrate carbon reduction targets and environmental KPIs into procurement category strategies
  • Identify opportunities to reduce embodied carbon and improve supplier energy efficiency

Supplier Engagement & Contracting

  • Conduct supplier sustainability assessments and evaluate environmental performance
  • Negotiate sustainability requirements and reporting standards into supplier contracts
  • Drive supplier accountability through measurable carbon reduction initiatives

Carbon Accounting & Data Analysis

  • Support carbon accounting efforts across procurement categories
  • Analyze emissions data to identify high-impact reduction opportunities
  • Partner with stakeholders to track progress against sustainability targets

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Global Procurement, Sustainability, Legal, Finance, and Operations teams
  • Align sustainability objectives with business and cost goals
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the global supply chain

Project Leadership

  • Lead complex, multi-stakeholder sustainability projects
  • Troubleshoot challenges and drive solutions in dynamic environments
  • Deliver measurable impact while balancing cost, risk, and operational feasibility

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Experience in procurement, category management, or supply chain strategy
  • Strong understanding of sustainability frameworks and carbon accounting principles
  • Experience working on Scope 3 emissions reduction initiatives
  • Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
