Role Overview: Key Account Manager
The Key Account Manager (KAM) is responsible for managing strategically critical client accounts, which represent a significant portion of company revenue. This role focuses on building strong client relationships, understanding client needs, coordinating internal teams, and driving growth opportunities through upselling, cross-selling, and new business development.
The KAM will serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, anticipating their needs and ensuring all deliverables are met on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain trusting relationships with major clients.
- Resolve client issues and manage complaints proactively.
- Develop a deep understanding of key account needs and anticipate changes.
- Coordinate internal teams to meet client deliverables.
- Support National Accounts Directors in contract negotiations and performance timelines.
- Collaborate with sales teams to maximize profit through upselling or cross-selling.
- Prepare and present reports on account progress, goals, and quarterly initiatives.
- Analyze client data to enhance customer relationship management.
- Expand client relationships and develop new business opportunities.
Requirements & Qualifications
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Sales, or a related field.
- 4–5 years of experience in sales, management, or key account management.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite (strong Excel skills).
- Ability to analyze sales data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
- Strong negotiation skills and proven track record in achieving client solutions and sales goals.
