Role Overview

We are seeking a Backend Web Developer to develop and maintain server-side logic, databases, and application performance for multiple digital platforms. You will collaborate with frontend developers, marketing, and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, high-quality web applications.

This role is open to military-affiliated candidates, including Veterans, Transitioning Military, National Guard/Reserve members, Military Spouses, Wounded Warriors, and their Caregivers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend components and services for multiple websites.
  • Integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic in collaboration with frontend developers.
  • Collaborate with the Communication Systems Manager to prioritize website requests and strategic initiatives.
  • Implement and maintain database systems, ensuring data integrity and security.
  • Write clean, scalable, and efficient code following best practices, standards, and ADA requirements.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize applications for performance and reliability.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies, cloud services, and industry trends.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 2–3 years as a Backend Developer or similar role.
  • Programming Languages: Python, Java, Ruby, or Node.js.
  • Database Management: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB.
  • Web Integration: Familiarity with PHP and JavaScript (WordPress integrations), RESTful APIs, web services.
  • Cloud & Containerization: Knowledge of AWS, Azure, and Docker is a plus.
  • Development Methodology: Experience with Agile frameworks.
  • Security: Understanding of security protocols and data protection measures.

Compensation

  • Salary: $85,000 – $103,000 annually, determined by skills, experience, education, and internal equity.
