Job Description

We are seeking a Backend Service Developer / Data Engineer with expertise in SQL, Python, ETL, and modern data platforms to join our team. This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data solutions for both on-premises and cloud environments, supporting banking and financial services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Requirement Analysis & Design:
    • Work independently with business teams to gather requirements.
    • Break down complex requirements into functional and technical designs.
    • Communicate clearly with technical teams to ensure proper implementation.
  • Data Engineering & Development:
    • Build and maintain ETL pipelines using DataStage, DBT, or similar tools.
    • Design and execute SQL scripts for ETL testing, data validation, and reporting.
    • Work with Snowflake or other cloud-based data warehouses.
    • Develop backend solutions and automated processes using Python.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance:
    • Create and execute test acceptance criteria for Unit Testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
    • Ensure accurate data processing and output through rigorous testing procedures.
  • Cloud & DevOps Integration:
    • Build CI/CD pipelines, self-service build tools, and automated deployment processes.
    • Support cloud-based data platforms and contribute to DevOps workflows for data engineering projects.
  • Support & Troubleshooting:
    • Provide escalated support for critical or complex incidents.
    • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective measures.
  • Innovation & Research:
    • Conduct research on emerging trends in banking, financial services, data engineering, and data security.
    • Recommend new tools, technologies, and processes to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Mentoring & Team Collaboration:
    • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on internal projects, monitoring, analytics improvements, and legacy system replacements.

Required Skills

  • SQL: 3–5 years of experience.
  • ETL Tools: Experience with DataStage.
  • Data Transformation: Experience with DBT.
  • Cloud Data Warehousing: Snowflake or equivalent.
  • Programming: Strong Python skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, able to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Understanding of SDLC and experience supporting release management processes.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience in Capital Markets or Financial Services.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies, data visualization, and REST API development.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in data engineering and backend development.
  • Proven ability to work on complex, high-scale data projects.
