Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend / Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems across cloud environments. This role emphasizes high availability, low latency, cost efficiency, and strong collaboration with engineering and research teams to support product innovation and growth.

You will act as a subject matter expert in backend infrastructure, helping shape architectural decisions and introducing new technologies into our platform.

Key Responsibilities

Backend & Infrastructure Development

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable and secure backend systems.
  • Optimize systems for high availability, low latency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Build event-driven architectures, APIs, and microservices to support real-time processing and analytics.

Architecture & Technical Leadership

  • Serve as the infrastructure subject matter expert when designing new products or enhancing existing platforms.
  • Introduce and evaluate new technologies and architectural patterns.
  • Ensure backend solutions align with business goals and user experience needs.

Reliability & Performance

  • Ensure system reliability, performance, and scalability through:
    • Monitoring
    • Logging
    • Error handling and alerting
  • Support production systems and continuously improve operational excellence.

Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Collaborate closely with engineering and research teams to integrate infrastructure components with product features.
  • Participate in code reviews, contribute to open-source projects, and mentor junior engineers.
  • Share best practices and drive continuous improvement across teams.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies.
  • Apply new knowledge to enhance platform capabilities and engineering efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience in:
    • Backend software development
    • Application design and implementation
    • Infrastructure or platform engineering (or consulting in these areas)
  • Strong experience building distributed backend systems.
  • Proficiency with at least one modern backend language (Python, Node.js, or Go).
  • Solid understanding of cloud-native architectures and microservices.
