Amazon’s Worldwide Operations network delivers millions of packages to customers every day. The Area Manager, SSD (Sub Same Day / Rapid & Rural Logistics) plays a critical leadership role in ensuring safety, performance, and customer satisfaction across last-mile delivery operations.

Rapid and Rural Logistics (R2L) focuses on speed, innovation, and operational excellence to ensure products reach customers’ doorsteps quickly and efficiently.

🚀 Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of hourly associates
  • Drive performance across:
    • Safety
    • Quality
    • Productivity
    • Attendance
    • Customer delivery timelines
  • Ensure customer orders are delivered accurately and on time
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams:
    • Safety
    • Operations Integration
    • Loss Prevention
    • Human Resources
  • Maintain operational standards in warehouse and delivery environments
  • Work in varying temperatures, noise levels, and physical conditions
  • Lift up to 49 lbs and remain active for shifts up to 12 hours

📦 Understanding Amazon’s Workflow

Amazon’s operations include:

  • First Mile: Product storage & readiness
  • Middle Mile: Transportation to local areas
  • Last Mile: Final delivery to customers

Area Managers are critical to ensuring smooth coordination in the last-mile experience.

🎓 Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of employee and performance management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree OR
    2+ years of Amazon full-time (blue badge/FTE) experience
  • Ability to work flexible shifts (including weekends, nights, holidays)

  • 1+ year experience in:
    • Performance metrics
    • Process improvement
    • Lean methodologies
