🚀 Role Overview

As an Applied Scientist, you will lead AI innovation within Sponsored Brands, building monetization and optimization systems powered by generative models.

This is a high-impact science leadership role combining:

You will shape multi-year GenAI strategies and deliver production-ready models that directly impact Amazon’s advertising ecosystem.

🧠 Key Responsibilities

  • Develop AI solutions for Sponsored Brands advertiser and shopper experiences
  • Build monetization and optimization systems leveraging generative AI models
  • Define long-term scientific vision and roadmap aligned with customer needs
  • Translate science strategy into actionable plans for engineering and science teams
  • Design and execute A/B experiments to validate modeling approaches
  • Perform deep data analysis to evaluate campaign performance improvements
  • Communicate technical and business insights clearly to diverse stakeholders
  • Stay current with advancements in generative AI, modeling techniques, and ML research
  • Identify multi-year GenAI opportunities to solve real-world advertising challenges

🎓 Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of building machine learning models for business applications
  • PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Engineering, or related field
    OR
    Master’s degree + 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience programming in Python, Java, C++, or similar languages
  • Experience in one or more of the following:
    • Algorithms & data structures
    • Numerical optimization
    • Data mining
    • Parsing
    • Parallel & distributed computing
    • High-performance computing
  • 3+ years of experience in digital advertising technology

⭐ Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven track record of innovative AI solution development
  • Experience with generative model architectures (LLMs, diffusion models, etc.)
  • Research publications or patents in generative AI
  • Strong cross-functional leadership experience

💰 Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary Range:

  • New York, NY: $172,400 – $223,400 USD annually
  • Seattle, WA: $142,800 – $193,200 USD annually
