Role Overview

As an AI Project Manager within 3M’s Enterprise Supply Chain (ESC) Digitization & Advanced Analytics (D&AA) team, you will lead high-impact AI initiatives across Planning, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Global Logistics.

This role serves as a critical bridge between business leaders, supply chain experts, and technical teams, ensuring AI-driven solutions are delivered effectively to improve forecasting accuracy, automation, operational efficiency, and data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of AI and advanced analytics projects from initiation through closure
  • Define project plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, and success metrics
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned to business outcomes

Stakeholder & Business Partnership

  • Collaborate with supply chain leaders and business stakeholders to define objectives and scope
  • Translate business challenges into actionable technical requirements
  • Provide clear communication to ESC leadership and D&AA stakeholders on progress, risks, and outcomes

Technical & Team Collaboration

  • Partner with data scientists, data engineers, developers, and architects to execute AI initiatives
  • Provide technical oversight across:
    • Data pipelines and system architecture
    • AI/ML frameworks and model deployment
    • Cloud-based analytics platforms
  • Ensure technical solutions align with enterprise standards and business needs

Agile & Delivery Excellence

  • Lead projects within an agile development environment
  • Drive sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and milestone delivery
  • Collaborate with the D&AA PMO to continuously improve delivery frameworks and governance

AI Product Strategy

  • Contribute to defining AI product vision, roadmap, and long-term strategy
  • Identify opportunities to scale AI solutions across supply chain domains

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed prior to start date)
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or supply chain analytics roles with increasing responsibility
  • 5+ years of experience in product, project, or program management
  • Experience working in private, public, government, or military environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience deploying AI solutions at enterprise scale, including:
    • Machine Learning (ML)
    • Generative AI
    • Decision Intelligence
    • Graph Data Science
    • Optimization & Simulation
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience leading AI initiatives with global or remote teams
  • Experience managing external vendors and partners
  • Strong ability to influence across organizational boundaries
  • Experience improving supply chain, logistics, or manufacturing performance
  • Experience designing cloud-based analytics solutions on large datasets
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage all organizational levels
  • Highly self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset

Work Model & Location

  • On-site requirement: Minimum 4 days per week at the 3M Center, Maplewood, MN
  • Travel: Up to 10% as business needs require

Compensation & Benefits (U.S. Applicants)

Expected Compensation Range:
$141,150 – $172,517 (Base pay + variable incentive, if eligible)

Compensation is based on role requirements, candidate experience, skills, and location.
