Position Overview:

As the After-Hours Specialty Infusion Pharmacist, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and administration of specialty infusion therapies during after-hours. You will play a crucial role in ensuring patients receive accurate and timely medication therapy, while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards. This role is ideal for a licensed pharmacist with expertise in infusion therapy and a passion for improving patient outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and verify medication orders for specialty infusion therapies.
  • Ensure the accurate preparation of infusion medications, including sterile compounding and patient-specific dosing.
  • Provide clinical support to patients and healthcare providers regarding infusion therapy and medication management.
  • Manage the after-hours infusion pharmacy operation, ensuring all therapies are administered in a safe and effective manner.
  • Document and report adverse reactions, side effects, and any complications related to infusion therapies.
  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including physicians and nurses, to coordinate patient care.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest infusion therapy advancements, regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Provide education to patients and caregivers about the safe and effective use of infusion medications.
  • Ensure compliance with pharmacy laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy) or equivalent.
  • Active Pharmacist license in the relevant state(s).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in specialty infusion pharmacy or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of sterile compounding, infusion therapies, and medication safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, caregivers, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to work independently, particularly during after-hours shifts.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of infusion pumps, IV administration techniques, and clinical pharmacology.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality patient care and improving clinical outcomes.
